BBMP declares 19 wards as containment zones

Bengaluru: The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagar Palike has declared 19 wards of the city as containment zones.

BBMP Commissioner B H Anil Kumar in the order stated: “In exercise of the powers conferred under Section 24 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, containment zones are to be identified in view of the COVID-19 positive case and aggregation of epidemiologically-linked COVID-19 cases in a limited area to prevent further spread.”

BBMP will be conducting sanitizing operations in these zones and will also be executing contact tracing on each of the positive cases found there.

The municipal body has also published dates when the zones will be ended.

All restrictions of a containment zone will come into effect from midnight of Monday, April 20.
