Hubli: Police assaults on-duty Palike employee

Hubli: Police assaulted an on-duty Municipal Corporation employee and seized his bike in Old Hubli Police Station limits on April 22. Corporation officers and staff protested against this and have shut their offices.

N K Angadi, an Assistant Revenue Officer in the city’s 9th ward office, was the assaulted officer.

The officer was on his way to supervise milk delivery when at Heggeri Cross, Anand Nagar Road, a PSI hit him with lathi even after the officer showed his identity card.

Condemning the assault the employees of the Corporation are staging a protest in the Corporation’s premises. They have also alleged that earlier too workers on emergency duty were assaulted by the police and demanded their suspension.
