Mumbai: The police have arrested two men for allegedly attacking Republic TV Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami and his wife on Thursday, April 23
“The incident took place on Ganpatrao Kadam Marg, when Goswami was returning from a studio located in Bombay Dyeing Complex in Lower Parel,” a police official said.
“The attackers overtook Goswami’s car, stopped it and one of them allegedly tried to break the vehicle’s glass window by repeatedly hitting it with his hands,” the official said.
“The attackers were carrying a bottle of ink which they threw on his car, the official said. Goswami’s security guards, who were behind in another car, caught hold of the two persons and handed them over to the N M Joshi Marg Police,” he added.
Republic TV shared a video on their account, in which Arnab Goswami is seen explaining the incident and alleging that the incident was by Congress party workers.
In the video, Goswami said that two masked men on a bike overtook his car and started to hurl bottles along with abuses. However, he was unable to identify them from the front seat. Upon enquiring with the security guard, Arnab found out that these men were sent by Congress to teach him a lesson.
This comes after Arnab had questioned Congress leader Sonia Gandhi in his debate earlier on Palghar incident in which three persons, including two sadhus, were lynched on April 16.
