M’luru: Area surrounding First Neuro Hospital in Padil declared ‘Containment’ zone

Mangaluru: Hours after a 75-year-old woman from Bantwal taluk tested positive for coronavirus on Thursday, April 23, Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner declared the area surrounding the First Neuro Hospital where the patient was first admitted as a containment zone.

The woman, mother-in-law of the deceased Covid-19 patient from Bantwal was being treated at First Neuro Hospital after she suffered a stroke on April 18. She was later shifted to the isolation ward of Wenlock hospital.

Accordingly the areas surrounding the First Neuro Hospital at Padil, i.e Kannagudde on the eastern side, Ramanath Kripa rice mill on the west, Bengaluru National Highway 73 to the north and the Cantonment area around the government area to the south have been declared as containment zone.

A total of two houses, five shops have been completely sealed down.

Additionally an area of 5 km around the hospital i.e upto Kallapu, Kudupu, Farangipete, Falnir has been declared as a buffer zone.

As many as 41,900 houses 1,808 business establishments (shops, offices) and over 1.80 lakh people reside in the buffer zone.
