What kind of food should be preferred during lockdown?

Good nutrition is crucial for your health particularly in times when your immunity system needs to fight back.

Here are some food tips that will help you

Include vitamin A which is found in spinach, vitamin C which is found in berries, tomatoes & peppers and zinc which is found in meat, shellfish, dairy and bread as they are good for your immune system.

Rely on boiled or poached eggs for proteins.Dry fruits, nuts and seeds with no added salts and palm oils make a healthy snack.

Carbohydrates include food items such as bread, chapatis, rice, potato, etc. Intake of these should be curtailed during this period. Additionally, since the body does not need any energy during sleep, carbohydrates can be completely avoided at dinner.

Beans, lentils and pulses are rich sources of vegetable proteins and fiber.Drinking an adequate amount of fluid is essential. Hence, increase your water intake

Almond or peanut butters and others can provide nutrients like magnesium, potassium, iron, zinc, vitamin E and B vitamin. Avoid consumption of alcohol and limit your fat intake.
