B’luru: CCB sleuths arrest 2 men for selling tobacco products online amid lockdown

Bengaluru: The Central Crime Branch (CCB) detectives have arrested two men for selling tobacco products online amid COVID-19 lockdown.
The arrested are identified as Akhtar Mirza (28), resident of Richmond Town, and Tasbaddin Mohiddin (32) from Berlie Street, Langford Town in Shanti Nagar.
As per sources, the accused were selling Indian and foreign-made cigarettes and chewing tobacco products online at a higher price.
Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Sandeep Patil said that the accused have posted ads in social media claiming that they would deliver tobacco products to the customer’s doorsteps along with product details and contact details.
Acting on credible information, the CCB police arrested the accused at Ganesh Temple near Kasturba road when they came to deliver Tobacco Product on Tuesday, April 22.
CCB has seized a car along with 450 packets of cigarettes and chewing products worth Rs. 30,000 as per MRP.
A case has been registered in Cubbon park police station in this regard.
