Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday, April 25 barred any kind of public gatherings in the state till June 30.

The decision, aimed at controlling the spread of coronavirus was taken after holding discussions with the chairpersons of 11 committees tasked with handling the COVID-19 outbreak in the state.

Over 1,600 confirmed cases of COVID-19 has been reported in the state so far. This includes 25 deaths.

Meanwhile the Centre has permitted re-opening of shops in residential areas – except in malls and shopping complexes in non-containment zones and areas that are not affected by the coronavirus. However, states have been given authority to override or modify these instructions, if needed.
