Ramanagara: HDK uses Nikhil’s wedding money to feed poor
Food kits to be distributed to 1.20 lakh families at cost of Rs 5.5 cr

Ramanagara: Former chief minister HD Kumaraswamy on Tuesday, April 28 said that his son Nikhil Kumaraswamy wedding money will be spent on distributing food kits to 1.20 lakh families in Ramanagara-Channapatna constituency.
Kumaraswamy, his wife Anita Kumaraswamy and the newly wedded couple – Nikhil and Revathi distributed the food kits to poor families at the Manjunatha Convention Hall in the city.
As many as 60,000 people from Ramanagara-Channapatna constituency have been provided with food kits. A sum of Rs 5.5 crore will be spent to distribute food kits among 1.2o lakh families from the twin districts. Nikhil’s wedding had to be held in a simple manner owing to coronavirus scare. Each household will be given a coupon in order to get the food kit. I am spending the money kept for my son’s wedding for people, ” Kumaraswamy said.
Earlier Kumaraswamy had said that he had chosen Ramanagara as the wedding venue for his son’s wedding to express his gratitude to the people of Ramanagara and Channapatna who gave him a new lease of life in politics. While the JDS leader had expressed desire to invite each and every house from the region for Nikhil’s wedding, the plans had to be cancelled amid the coronavirus-induced lockdown. The wedding however was held at their farmhouse in Ramanagara itself in a very simple manner.
