Mangaluru: New Central Mkt to be built; temporary mkt to come up near Town Hall

Mangaluru: A new Central Market is to come up after the demolition of the old one at a cost of Rs 115 crore.

The redevelopment of the Market will be by the Mangaluru Smart City Limited (MSCL) on a public-private partnership basis. MSCL will be releasing a tender for the same soon.

In the meantime, a temporary market will be built near the Town Hall at a cost of Rs 5.25 crore to accommodate the vendors of the Central Market who were shifted to the APMC yard at Baikampady.

The temporary structure will have more than 150 shops and about 200 stalls. It could be built in four months.
