Avoid distributing food in polythene bags: K’taka govt to NGOs

Bengaluru: The state government has directed the organizations and NGOs in the state to avoid distributing foods to people in polythene bags and instead use plastic boxes.
Information and Public Relations Department of the state government stated, “The state government has ordered the distribution of food and meals in plastic boxes instead of in polythene bags.”
“However, in order to protect the health of the workers, the government has ordered the supply of food or meals in plastic boxes instead of polythene covers,” it added.
During COVID-19, not only government departments and agencies but also various organizations and NGOs are providing meals to workers in polythene covers as it is unhealthy the government also has decided to give food in the plastic boxes, informed sources.
