Bengaluru: The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike on Friday, May 1 announced that it is mandatory to wear face masks in public places, workplaces with more than 5 employees and fine will be levied on each violation.

Apart from this, Spitting, urinating & littering in public places have been banned completely.

The fine on the people would be from Rs.1,000 to Rs. 2,000. For first time offenders, it would be Rs. 1,000 and for the second time offenders Rs. 2,000 would be charged. If they repeat the third time, there will be strict action that will be taken.

BBMP officials informed that Field Marshals in every area will monitor people and accordingly they will fine people if they violate rules.

There is a chance of an increase in demand on masks after this announcement. As there is already a demand for face masks, the common man might have to pay a higher price for the masks in the future.

The cases in containment zones have been increasing every day due to which, BBMP has made it mandatory to wear face masks.
