Mangaluru: BJP state President Nalin Kumar Kateel along with the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) officials and expert engineers visited after cracks appeared at three places, including the protective wall on the bridge.

During his visit, Nalin Kumar Kateel instructed the officials of NHAI to get flyover works at Pumpwell assessed by a third party team and submit a report to him.

However, repair works had been undertaken a few days ago at Pumpwell flyover after cracks appeared at three places, including the protective wall on the bridge.

The Pumpwell flyover, that inspired several memes took about 10 years for completion, but the cracks appeared just three months after its inauguration.

The cracks started to appear after the unseasonal rains that lashed the city on Saturday, April 25.

Project director Shishu Mohan said hairline cracks appeared as the strengthening of the embankment, protection walls and flyover ramps had to be stopped due to the lockdown.
