Udupi: Quarantine mandatory for all arriving in district says DC

Udupi: District Deputy Commissioner (DC) G Jagadeesha has stated that those wanting to enter Udupi district will be allowed to enter on the condition that they compulsorily undergo quarantine.

The DC had presided over a meeting at the District Panchayat office here on Saturday, May 2, where the issue of inter-State and inter-district travel was discussed.

It was decided that all arrivals to the district will be screened at Udupi’s MGM ground. Later, they will be sent to their respective taluks where taluk officials will arrange quarantine facility for them in hostels and hotels in their jurisdiction.

Those quarantined in hotels will have to pay for their stay there.

Jagadeesha also instructed all Taluk Panchayats to carry out necessary preparations in every village panchayat in the district for quarantining at least 25 people coming from other States.

Additionally, it was also decided that inter-district travel will be prohibited except for medical reasons, all illegal entrants to the district will be compulsorily quarantined and the expenses for the quarantine will be borne by the quarantined and only one passenger will be allowed to travel in autorickshaws.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Sadashiva Prabhu, Kundapur Sub-Divisional Officer Raju and District Panchayat Deputy Secretary Kiran Padekar were present in the meeting.
