Gangavathi: The district administration here has decided to reopen liquor shop from May 4.
In Gangavathi taluk, there are a total of 18 CL-02 government liquor shops. The shop owners have already started to set up a bamboo fence to control the crowd of buyers after opening.
The government has not allowed liquor consumption near the shops hence only parcels will be sold by the shops. The Commissioner of the Excise Department has stated that any shop violating this rule will lose its license.
Dalit Sangharsh Samiti’s State Convenor, Tippanna Aarathi Hulugesha Devaramani has requested the Deputy Commissioner of the district to enquire into the illegal sale of liquor during the lockdown period. He has also asked officials to inspect the shops for any old, unsold stocks before they reopen.
