An Instagram chat group called ‘Bois Locker Room’ has made a lot of buzz lately. The online chat group involves hundreds of boys from south Delhi, sharing and circulating pictures of women and also promoting rape culture
The incident came to light after a girl from south Delhi shared a screenshot on social media exposing the said group and scores of similar groups.
She also shared pictures of the group members, which have been identified by some users on the micro blogging site.
On Sunday, May 3, screenshots from the group were shared widely by social media users. The screenshots reveal chats between a group of schoolboys from Class 11 and 12 sharing photos of underage women, followed by lurid discussions on their bodies. Many conversations purportedly showed members talking about sexual assault often against their own classmates, raising questions about normalising of rape, misogyny and objectification in schools.
Delhi Commission for Women Chairperson Swati Maliwal called for the arrest of those associated with the group.
It is said that the Delhi Police has taken cognisance of the matter and have filed a case under the IT Act on the basis of social media posts.
