Cheers: Record-breaking sale of alcohol worth Rs 231 cr in K’taka on Day 3 of relaxation

Bengaluru: Over Rs 231 crore of liquor was sold in Karnataka on Wednesday, May 6 surpassing its Tuesday’s sales figure oby a whopping Rs 34 crore.

On the first day of the lockdown relaxation Rs 45 crore of liquor was sold across the state. On Tuesday, Karnataka broke its previous single-day liquor sale record of Rs 170 crore (on Dec 28, 2019) with sale of Rs 197 crore worth liquor.

The total sale on May 6 included 39 lakh litres of Indian made liquor worth Rs 216 crore and 7 lakh litres of beer worth Rs 15.6 crore, said an official from the excise department.
