Bengaluru: A Bengaluru-based pilot turned a big fat wedding spread over three days into a virtual ceremony with their parents and a few friends in attendance via video conferencing app from nine locations.
Desperate times call for desperate measures, Sameer Varma (28), a senior first officer with IndiGo and Ayushi Kataria, a consultant with Accenture were scheduled to marry on April 17 with hundreds of guests, including a few from Australia and Belgium, in attendance but due to lockdown in place they had to cancel their wedding.
As there was no sign of the lockdown being eased, Sameer’s mother Kiran realized they should go ahead with the wedding.
As per sources, the original wedding was to be held at a Delhi resort with a pre-wedding cocktail do for 200 guests. However, the wedding was held on May 6, and a virtual sangeet the previous evening. Besides Sameer and Ayushi, five people were present at the bride’s residence for the wedding.
Meanwhile, 35 people attend the online weddings from nine locations – Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Gurugram, Faridabad, Noida, Jaipur, Pune, the northeast, and Singapore.
