Kota: A 4-kilometre long rainwater ditch at Moodugiliyaru Bankanakere area in Kota gram panchayat which was clogged with silt for decades and was causing thousands of acres of fertile land to be flooded every year is finally being cleared during the lockdown.
The clearing work was done under the employment guarantee scheme by the villagers themselves. A grant of Rs 3 lakhs was sanctioned by the Panchayat Development Officer for the works.
About 40 people are working on clearing the ditch. About half of the ditch has been cleared and the work will be completed before the beginning of monsoon.
