Udupi: Salons to open from May 18, ‘Arogya Setu’ mandatory for barbers

Udupi: The salons in the district will open for customers from May 18 with some restrictions informed Udupi district Savita Samaj president Bhaskar Bhandary.

Addressing pressperson Bhandarty said that on May 13 a delegation of Savita Samaj met the deputy commissioner Jagadish of the district and discussed the current conditions after which he agreed to issue conditional permission to open all salons in the district on May 18 with some conditions.

The conditions issued are:

*Customers should fix an appointment in advance over the phone.
* Air-conditioners cannot be switched on in the saloon.
*A of minimum two feet distance should be maintained between customers and barbers.
*Clothes in the salon should be clean and hygienic.
*The barbers should compulsorily wear masks and hand gloves
*After serving the customers, they should wash hands with soap.
*When the customer visits, they should be asked to clean their hands with sanitizers.
*If there are two barbers working in the same salon, a difference of minimum one meter should be maintained between two chairs.
*Clothes used for one customer cannot be used for another one.
*They can be used again only after having been washed.
*All the barbers should download the Arogya Setu app on their mobile phones.

Savita Samaj general secretary Sadashiva Bangera Kurkalu, treasurer Shekhar Salian Adi Udupi, honorary president Govind Bhandary, Udupi taluk Savita Samaj president Raju C Bhandary Kinnimulky, secretary Shankar Salian Katapady, were also present at the press conference.
