Udupi: A Kundapur-based 54 year old man who arrived from Maharashtra recently and had died on May 14 due to heart attack has been confirmed to be COVID-19 positive.
He is the first COVID-19 death in Udupi district since the pandemic began.
The man was in institutional quarantine after arrival in Kundapura on May 5. He was admitted to hospital in Manipal on May 13 after complaining of breathing problems. He was treated in the isolation ward.
All government guidelines were followed by the man during his quarantine and treatment in the hospital. Some of the medical staff who attended to him have been quarantined.
