Covid 19: Dist admin declares Jeppu Patna as containment zone

Mangaluru: In the backdrop of a coronavirus case being reported from Jeppu Patna in Jeppinamogaru, the Dakshina Kannada district administration on Sunday, May 17 declared the area as containment zone.

The 32-year-old youth voluntarily asked the health officials to conduct the test on him after he developed COVID-19 symptoms.

The area surrounding the youth’s house has been declared as a containment zone and sealed down. The zone encompasses 48 houses, two shops and a school, and there are 205 residents. An area of 5 km radius around the containment zone has been designated as buffer zone.

Another case reported today was that of a 35-year-old woman hailing from Yeyyadi. She had returned from Mumbai on May 14 and had been placed under institutional quarantine. Her child and husband continue to stay under quarantine while she is undergoing treatment at a designated hospital in the district.
