Many incidents of elephants’ districting estates have been increased in the past couple of years. In some areas, the lone elephants have attacked the farms while in some other areas group of elephants have destroyed the farms.

Amid imposing nation-wide lockdown, the movement of people has been significantly reduced in cities and villages. Hence, the wild elephants that have been moving in the borders of villages, have entered the village and moving from one farm to another.

Many crops like coffee, banana, cardamom have been destroyed due to this.

The farmers from Banalli, Bharatibailu, Belagoda, and surrounding villages in Mudigere Taluk are living the fear of another attack.

The forest officers have adventurously tried resuing the crops from the big animal. In another incident, a gang of elephants has entered some other villages. However, the officials were successful in fleeing animals by bursting crackers on time.

Overall, the people of the village tired by the regular attack of elephants and struggling to save the crops they have grown in their farms. The villagers have also requested the officials to send the elephants to some other forest as well.
