K’taka: Migrant workers to receive rations under Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana

Bengaluru: State’s Food Minister Gopalayya stated that migrant workers stuck in the State due to the COVID-19 lockdown will be provided with rations under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana.

He explained that 5 kilograms of rice will be distributed in the months of May and June and each family will also receive 2 kilograms of chickpeas.

He further stated that 40.19 lakh people who do not have ration cards would benefit from the distribution.

The fourth phase of the lockdown will continue until the end of May. Government and private buses have been allowed so are shops and street vending.
