Mangaluru: A 51-year-old man who had hanged himself at a quarantine centre here on Thursday morning, has tested positive for Covid-19.
The deceased, a resident of Kadandale was placed under mandatory institutional quarantine functioning at a school upon his return from Mumbai. He allegedly hanged himself at the quarantine centre as he was worried about his employment prospects due to the Covid-19 lockdown.
Earlier today, a 29-year-old female from Belthangady tested positive for the virus.
The district administration in their update sad that a total of 63 cases, including six from other districts has been confirmed in Dakshina Kannada. Of this 21 persons have been discharged and five coronavirus-related deaths occurred in the district. As on date, 36 active cases are reported in Dakshina Kannada.
