Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner Sindhu Rupesh on Friday informed that a complete lockdown will be observed in the district from 7 pm on May 23 till 7 am on May 25.

It may be noted that chief minister B S Yediyurappa while announcing guidelines for the fourth phase of the lockdown had stated that complete lockdown will be observed in the State on Sundays. The government had however exempted weddings that have been scheduled on May 24 and 31.

The DC, in a release, said that only medical shops, newspaper delivery, milk parlours and chicken, fish and mutton stalls will be permitted to function on Sundays. Vehicular movement has also been restricted during this period.

Since weddings that have been scheduled have been exempted from the lockdown, those using their vehicles to attend the wedding ceremony will have to necessarily apply for a transit pass, the release said.
