Mangaluru: Eid-ul-Fitr, marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan usually begin early in the morning with thousands of Muslims gathering at mosques and Eidgahs, however, this EID was the quietest ever as no one was allowed to go to the mosques due to the lockdown and most of the Muslim families offered prayed at their home itself.
Unlike every year this Eid is different in its own way and has been an amazing experience for the Muslim community from greeting friends and relatives on video calls, offering prayers online with family and children keeping Roza for the first time.
Earlier, mosques in the city would be abuzz with worshippers, but this year, clerics had urged people to pray at their respective homes in view of COVID.
Every year on the occasion of EID Idgah Masjid in city’s Light House Hill witness thousands of devotees to offer namaz, but this the mosque wore a deserted look.
Eid al-Fitr is the first of the two major Muslim holidays during the year.
