Ghoomketu is the film starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui and directed by Pushpendra Nath Misra. This movie is about an aspiring writer, Ghoomketu (Nawazuddin Siddiqui) from a village Mahona in Uttar Pradesh and runs away from his house to Mumbai to be a story writer.

His family members file a complaint to search him and use their political connections to pressure the police to bring him back. Inspector Badlani (Anurag Kashyap), a lazy police inspector takes up the case in Mumbai.

After a few attempts trying to get different work, Ghoomketu finally gets some work, and he starts writing different genres of stories. He also gets a place to stay a building in which Badlani lives.

Badlani gets a target of 30 days to find Ghoomketu by his supervisor otherwise he will be transferred to a remote location, while, Ghoomketu also has little money to service in Mumbai for 30 days. As the story progresses we watch whether Ghoomketu finds become a scriptwriter or Badlani catches him.

The performance of Nawazuddin is topnotch in the movie and Anurag Kashyap’s role as a lazy police inspector is also good in this film.

Ghoomketu has many comedy scenes that are enjoyable but it drags the runtime of the film. There are cameo appearances of Ranveer Singh, Sonakshi Sinha Amitabh Bachchan, Richa Chadda, and Chitraganda Singh.

The parody scene of DDLJ in which Ranveer Singh and Sonakshi Sinha imitating the climax scene of Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge in which Nawazuddin dubs dialogues is enjoyable.

Cinematography, editing, and color tone are good in the film. The filmmakers experimented a lot in terms of narration and storytelling. The makers also tried experimenting with the climax which doesn’t go well with the plot.

If the makers tried to cut short the runtime and made the story more concrete, it would have been a better comedy flick. You can watch this movie on Zee 5.
