No summer vacation for colleges, universities in upcoming academic year

Bengaluru: The state Higher Education Department on Tuesday has decided to adopt a ‘Zero Vacation’ policy in the upcoming academic year in order to cope with the loss of of academic days due the coronavirus-induced lockdown in the nation.

The decision was communicated during the review meeting Higher Education Department convened by CM Yediyurappa earlier in the day. As per the communique, summer vacation for undergraduate and post-graduate students and universities will be cancelled during the 2020-21 academic year.

The government had consulted Vice Chancellors and other academicians from various parts of the state before taking this decision.

The topic of providing online education to students in higher educational institutes was among the various things discussed at the meeting.
