Karnataka to reopen temples from June 1

Bengaluru: Temples across the state will reopen for devotees from June 1 onwards. The state government will issue a Standard operating protocol (SoP) in this regard soon, said sources.
Notably, Karnataka is the first state to announce opening of temples, mosques, churches and other places of religious worship since the nation-wide lockdown to contain spread of coronavirus. Religious gatherings were prohibited and places of religious worship had been shut during the lockdown.
Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa held a meeting at his home office Krishna in this regard. Already permission has been given for e-donations and online booking for various seva at temples.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting Muzrai Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary said that the government has decided to open places of religious worship from June 1 subject to certain norms. The decision will however depend on the MHA guidelines after fourth phase of lockdown.
