1,000 more govt schools to have Kannada and English medium of instruction

Bengaluru: primary and secondary education S Suresh Kumar, said that the government will propose the state-run schools to present English alongside Kannada as a medium of education to an additional thousand schools this year.

In a video conference with the directors of public instructions on Wednesday, the government has already implemented both Kannada and English languages in 1,000 schools in the state. This year they will introduce English as a medium as the language to 1,000 Kannada medium schools and 400 Urdu schools.

Referring to many institutions neglecting Kannada he said that every school in Karnataka should teach Kannada and every student in Karnataka need to learn Kannada. Private schools need to learn the importance of Kannada and support the government in this interest of children. If any institution neglect implementation of Kannada, they will face action as per the Kannada language learning bill 2015.

Kumar also said that the education department aims to retain the children in government schools and the government doesn’t want to poor people spend most of their earnings for their children’s education by admitting them to private schools.
