Google has deleted millions of negative TikTok reviews from its Play store after the app’s rating fell from 4.5 to 1.2 stars overnight.
Bytedance launched Tiktok as Douyin in China in September 2016 and then introduced it to the overseas market as TikTok a year later. Before long, Bytedance decided to expand their offering. They purchased Musical.ly on 9 November 2017, merging the two platforms internationally on 2 August 2018.
Tiktok is widely popular in India and recently amid the Youtube vs Tiktok war, several videos and contents promoting rape culture, animal abuse and glorifying acid attacks came forward.
After which many urged government to ban Tiktok app and several hashtags asking users to ban TikTok and #IndiaagainstTikTok started trending on Twitter.
Now, sources claim that Google has deleted millions of bad reviews from the Play Store. As per the reports, Google has removed over 5 million negative comments for TikTok which has ultimately improved its rating.
