K’taka: CM warns authorities of strict action if not responding to public complaints

Bengaluru: In the wake of rains in the city, the BBMP control room/helpline should respond to calls from the public immediately, if complaints are received that calls are not responded to then strict action will be taken against such officials stated Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa.

He was speaking at a meeting organised to discuss the preparations to be undertaken in Bengaluru metropolis area as the monsoon begins.

The family of two girls who died in the rains that lashed the city recently has been given compensation by BBMP of Rs 5 lakh each.

Yediyurappa advised officials to clear the fallen trees in the city in two days, saying that the work of identifying and cutting dangerous twig branches should be done soon.

He also said that if there were any shortcomings in the city’s traffic, then officials will be terminated from their jobs.

The BBMP, police, forestry, transport and fire departments were ordered to work in coordination. He warned against parking of vehicles under trees and advised to take action to prevent any hazard. He also said that jetting machines should be made available.

Minister Bhairati Basavaraj, Chief Secretary T M Vijaybhaskar, BBMP Commissioner B H Anil Kumar, City Police Commissioner Bhaskar Rao, Urban Development Department Chief Secretary Mahendra Jain were present in the meeting.
