New Delhi: The Centre on Saturday, May 30 issued new guidelines as the fourth phase of the lockdown is slated to end on May 31.
Termed as Unlock 1, the Centre has allowed for re-opening of prohibited activities in areas outside containment zones in a phased manner from June 1 while also reducing the night curfew timings.
Earlier in the day, Mahindra Group Chairman Anand Mahindra in a tweet stated moving away from the term lockdown saying it needs to have a defined tenure.
“Maybe we now need to move away from the term and find an alternate for the way forward..’Unlock 1.0??, he said in yet another tweet.
As on May 31, the nation will complete 68 days of lockdown since it was first implemented on March 24. Relaxations were offered in phased manners, with the fourth phase even allowing resumption of domestic air travel.
The Unlock 1 will last till June 30 during which the Centre has allowed for resumption of hotels, religious places, educational institutions, and also removed intra-state and inter-state movement of people.
States and UTs, based on their assessment of the situation, may prohibit certain activities outside the containment zones, or impose restrictions as deemed necessary, the new guidelines say.
