Belthangady: Conmen raid gambling den, loot Rs 10 lakh cash posing as police

Belthangady: A six-member gang, claiming to be police personnel conducted a raid at a gambling den in the taluk and made away with Rs 10 lakh cash from the gamblers.

A complaint in this regard was lodged by Hoysala J P, a native of Chikkamagaluru district in Beltangady police station.

The incident is said to have taken place on May 29 when Hoysala was playing a card game at a house in Layila Padlady of the taluk. In his complaint Hoysala said that one of the accused identified as Dawood along with five others acted like they were conducting a police raid and made away with a bag containing Rs 10 lac in cash.

The police are investigating the case.
