Mangaluru: Former district in-charge minister Ramanath Rai asked MESCOM to clear confusion pertaining to payment of electricity bills, generated during the lockdown period.

Speaking to reporters at a press meet here on Thursday, June 4 Rai pointed out that chief minister and district in-charge minister have asked not to pay the electricity bill. MESCOM however has not yet clarified if consumers have to pay the bill or not, he added.

“Already people are facing problems because of the lockdown. In this midst, MESCOM has issued bill, for a three-month period, payment of which is adding to people’s burden. The issue needs to sorted out,” said Rai.

No developmental works have been done by the BJP government though it has been hailing its two years’ achievements.

On issue of renaming Nehru Maidan after Koti Chennaya, Rai said that the name can be given to a different place.

Former mayor Shashidhar Hegde, Congress leaders Ibrahim Kodijal, Abdul Rauf, Ashok D K, Sahul Hameed, Shalet Pinto were present.
