50 % reduction in Malaria cases in Udupi district

Number of Malaria cases in Udupi has dropped in comparison to last year. It is said that the district has seen 50 percent deduction.

As of June 11, 2020, 4,574 suspected were tested, 21 of which were malaria positive. In 2017, around 1,96,499 were tested and 513 of them were found to have malaria.

In 2018 and 2019, blood samples of 1,82,724 and 2,02,110 suspected malaria patients were tested and 221 and 150 were diagnosed with malaria, respectively .

Also, the health department is taking effective measures to control malaria as regular fogging is being done.  But, the health department urges people to make sure there is no stagnant water on the terrace or in the vicinity of the house and also make use of mosquito nets while sleeping.
