Mangaluru: MRG Group chairman and managing director K Prakash Shetty has clarified that contrary to reports he was not aspiring for a ticket to contest the Legislative Council elections.

The Legislative Council elections are due later this month.

In a press release Shetty stated that he was an aspirant of Rajya Sabha member and expressed his gratitude to the BJP core committee for recommending his name for the Rajya Sabha membership.

Notably, the BJP Central leadership nominated senior leaders Iranna Kadadi and Ashok Gasti for the Rajya Sabha membership. Both the leaders were elected unopposed to the Rajya Sabha on June 12.

Welcoming the decision of the party, Shetty in the press release said, “Party comes first then a person, I am happily welcoming the decision of the party and one should not feel bad in this regard. I hereby clarify that I was an aspirant of Rajya Sabha member, but not an aspirant of Legislative council membership.”
