Mangaluru: Senior citizens thrown out of a private hospital

Mangaluru: Deputy Commissioner Sindhu B Rupesh ordered admitting the four senior citizens who were evicted by a private hospital in Mangaluru on Thursday, June 18 to the ESI Hospital.

The four were being treated at the Wenlock hospital. However, after Wenlock was converted as a designated COVID-19 hospital, they were shifted to the private hospital where they were undergoing treatment for almost three months.

Officials from the Mangaluru City Corporation and social welfare department escorted the four to the ESI hospital.

As per a media report, MLA UT Khader said that the hospital had not evicted the patients but the latter had asked the hospital authorities to drop them to the bus stand. The information was conveyed by the hospital to district health department, he said.

Four senior citizens were evicted from a private hospital in Mangaluru on Thurdsay, June 18.

It is said that the four were shifted to the private hospital from Wenlock Hospital when it was converted into an exclusive Covid-19 hospital

The private hospital staff dropped the elderly citizens near Kankanady Market. The local traders questioned the hospital staff to which they said the patients were there for three months and other patients are facing problems because of them.

The patients were given blankets and food by the local traders and have urged the representatives to help them.
