Solar Eclipse 2020: All you need to know about the annual eclipse

The first solar eclipse of 2020 will take place on June 21 at 9:15 am. It will reach its peak at 12:10 pm and conclude at 3:04 pm in India

An annular eclipse happens when the edge of the sun remains visible as a bright ring around the moon and it is different from a total solar eclipse.

But , it is said that the moon does not completely block out the visible disk of the sun because the moon is farther away and so its apparent size in the sky is smaller than the sun. This means that a tiny ring of annulus of the solar disk is visible around the moon

Dos and Don’ts

Don’t see the eclipse with one’s naked eyes as solar eclipse produces harmful rays that can cause blindness.

People are prohibited from touching or even worshipping idols of gods during the eclipse.

Advised to chant hymns, meditate on this day to protect one form evil effects of an eclipse

Pregnant ladies are advised to stay indoors.

Avoid sleeping, cooking and eating during the eclipse hours.

Before and after eclipse, it is advised to take bath and open the doors of the temple.
