An unidentified balloon-like object appeared in the sky over northern Japan in the city of Sendai on Wednesday, June 17.

It is said that it had appeared near dawn and hung in the sky for hours, largely unmoving, until obscured by clouds.

By afternoon, it was one of the most trending topics on twitter with netizens coming up with various theories

Sources claim, the UFO lingered in the sky, largely motionless, for several hours before drifting over the Pacific Ocean

A spokesperson from the Sendai bureau of the Japan Meteorological Agency said,“it’s not ours.”. Also, Japan’s Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga also denied any knowledge of the balloon’s origin.
