Fact Check: Did Government order the restriction of Chinese apps?

A viral message of an order allegedly from the National Informatics Centre claims that the government has prohibited some Chinese apps from being available on app stores

The message says that following a meeting with Google and Apple, the government of India has instructed that several Chinese applications need to be restricted from the respective stores with immediate effect

Also, the viral message says that India Government has banned as many as 15 applications including popular mobile app TikTok and.

However, PIB Fact check cleared that the message that has gone viral on the internet is a fake.

PIB in a tweet said, “Claim: A viral message of an order allegedly from NIC claims that @GoI_Meity has prohibited some apps from being made available on App Stores.
