Puttur: Senior who never left home tests COVID-19 positive

Puttur: An elderly man from Ragidakumeri Chikkamutturu here who was admitted to a government hospital for fever, cough and cold has been found to be COVID-19.
The man did not return from overseas or from another State and there are no infected persons in his neighbourhood nor did he come in contact with an infected person.
Locals and authorities are baffled and worried as to how did the novel coronavirus infected him. The source of the infection is being investigated.
The man has been shifted to Wenlock hospital at Mangaluru. He is said to be a father-in-law of a Nagar Sabha member and was living with him in the same house.
The elected representative being a primary contact of the infected and others who had come in contact with him have been placed in quarantine.
The Nagar Sabha member’s samples have been sent for testing.
