Indian Armed forces get powers to buy critical weapons upto Rs 500 cr per acquisition

New Delhi: The Centre has granted financial powers to Indian armed forces for the acquisition of critical ammunition and weapons, upto Rs 500 crore per project under an emergency requirement procedure.
This development comes amid ongoing border dispute with China at LAC.
Under the project, the defence forces, in consultation with the Department of Military Affairs, can go in for buying any weapon which they feel would be required for war-fighting or are short of in their inventory,” the sources said.
