Assault on man transporting beef with permit: Five arrested

Mangaluru: The Kadri police arrested five people for assaulting a man who was transporting beef from the slaughterhouse at Kudroli to the meat market at Kankanady.

The arrested are Deexit Kumar (19) from Suratkal Hosabettu, Kuchigudde Raju Poojary (19), Attavar Santosh Kumar (31), Balachandra (28) and Rakshit (22) from Ullal.

The arrested had waylaid vehicle transporting meat from Kudroli slaughterhouse and assaulted the driver of the vehicle Sunday, on June, though Rashid, the victim, was transporting 200 kg of beef in his tempo to the shop of Zakir, who owns a beef stall in the Kankanady market, with a required legal permit.

The miscreants had also poured Kerosene over the meat so that it cannot be sold.
