Covid-19 infected murder accused flees hospital; dares guard to catch him

Bengaluru: A 30-year-old COVID-19 patient, who is facing attempt to murder charges fled from the Victoria Hospital where he was being treated for his infection on Wednesday morning.
The convict who was arrested on June 19 was subjected to the COVID-19 test and his report came positive on Tuesday following which he was immediately admitted to Victoria Hospital. As many as 18 policemen, his primary and secondary contacts, are already under quarantine.
The man managed to escape from the hospital when he was reportedly being taken for a routine X-ray test.During this time the man managed to shove the healthcare staff escorting him and fled away.
Though two security guards were deployed at the gate, the man dared them to nab him and allegedly even spat on them. Since the guards were wearing PPE suit they were unable to give the accused a chase.
The police was intimated of his escape and a search was launched for him.
Based on a tip-off from his friend, the police nabbed the convict from near Pushpanjali theatre in RT Nagar. He has been booked under Section 224 of the Indian Penal Code and the NDMA Act.
The accused informed police he was addicted to alcohol and ran away to have a drink.
