Kaup: Gas leak suspected at ISPRL after locals face health issues

Kaup: Few local residents fell sick from high smelling gas at Padur’s Kooralu near on Monday, June 29.

As per sources, the locals started smelling gas on the morning of Monday, June 29, and immediately alerted the gram panchayat and several other local officials. There was suspicion about a gas leak has occurred at the Indian Strategic Petroleum Reserve Ltd’s (ISPRL)

Taluk and district administration officials, police, and officials from the pollution control board spoke with the officials from ISPRL and supposedly asked them to find out the problem in 24 hours.

An official from the ISPRL stated that initial checks do not show any leak from the underground storage facility. He, however, said that a pipeline that runs from Thokur to Padur will be checked by a special team to ascertain if there are no leaks from the pipes.
