State govt buying COVID equipment at double the market price, alleges UT Khader

Mangaluru: Congress MLA and former Health Minister UT Khader allegd that Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa led BJP government is buying COVID-19 equipment for more than twice the actual price.

Speaking with this regard he said, “The government is purchasing the sanitizers worth Rs 500 for Rs 900. Rs 9,000 has been paid to Rs 1200 for the thermal meter.”

He further speaking about the delay in ambulance service for the COVID patients said,” Though it’s been three months since the pandemic started, the state government is still struggling to send ambulances to needy patients.”

“Instead of ambulance it is sending final rights vehicle to needy people,” said Khader.

On July 3 Siddaramaiah had alleged misappropriation on the part of the Karnataka government in the purchase of equipment for COVID-19 treatment and demanded an inquiry into it.

The total cumulative COVID-19 cases in the State has now increased to 25,317 of this 10,527 cases have recovered. Presently, 14,385 active cases across the State are undergoing treatment.

The total COVID-19 deaths in the State have also increased to 401.
