Karnataka: 1,478 COVID-19 positive cases in State on July 7

Bengaluru: 1,478 COVID-19 cases were detected in the State on July 7. The cumulative total of COVID-19 cases in the State has now increased to 14,385.

15 people have died from the virus on the same day. Five died in Bidar while one each died in Bagalkot, Dakshina Kannada and Mandya districts. There have been 416 COVID-19 deaths in the State so far.

More than 800 COVID-19 cases were reported in Bengaluru, 51 in Bidar and 6 in Chamarajanagar.

Udupi district, which has fallen to third place in the highest number of total COVID-19 cases list after been first for some time, reported 28 new cases on July 7. Three COVID-19 deaths have been reported in the district till date.

In Dakshina Kannada district, 83 cases were reported on the same day. 48 of them were from primary contacts, 2 from secondary contacts, 3 cases were detected from random testing, 4 in pre-surgery testing, 1 in pre-delivery testing of a pregnant woman. This has again raised the fear that community transmission might have started in the district.

Presently, Bengaluru Urban and Kalaburagi districts are in the first and second spot respectively in the highest COVID-19 cases list.
