Bengaluru: After Bangaluru Police recovered a six-page suicide note, purportedly written by a former chief executive officer of Sri Guru Raghavendra Sahakara Bank Vasudeva Maiya, who allegedly killed himself by consuming poison in his car on July 6, the case has been now transferred to the CID.

Meanwhile, Daughter of Vasudeva Maiya, Rashmi has filed a complaint in the said police station, stating that her father ended his life because of mental harassment caused by those who raised loans from the bank and defaulted in repayment.

Rashmi has filed a complaint against the current CEO of the bank, Santosh Kumar, Ravi Aithal, Rakesh, Shreepada Hegde, Prashanth, Raghunath, Reddy brothers, Shmines, Rajnath and Kumaresh.

The former CEO of the Guru Raghavendra Bank, which has its headquarters in south Bengaluru, was found dead on July 6 outside his home in Bengaluru.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (South), Rohini Katoch Sepat on July 8 confirmed that the note was recovered from Maiya’s car and has been sent to the Forensic Science Lab (FSL) for a detailed analysis.

“We have found the suicide note in the same car in which Maiya’s body was found. The note was taken into possession in the presence of his family members and sent to FSL lab and an investigation is underway,” the official said.

The bank had hit the headlines in January when the Reserve Bank of India or RBI began an investigation into financial irregularities amounting to over Rs 1,400 crore.

A case of cheating and forgery was registered against M Vasudev Maiya, who was removed as the chief executive officer of the bank when the probe began in January.

On June 18, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) had searched the offices of Sri Guru Raghavendra Sahakara Bank and its office-bearers along with Vasudeva Maiya in connection with a case of alleged financial irregularities in the bank.
