Bengaluru: Condemning the decision of HRD ministry to exclude chapters on Citizenship, Secularism and Federalism from the CBSE syllabus, former Chief minister Siddaramaiah on Thursday claimed that the BJP doesn’t believe in these principles.

His remarks came a day after the CBSE notified the new syllabus for classes 9 to 12 for the 2020-21 academic session on Wednesday after rationalising up to 30 per cent of the curriculum.

“Chapters on Citizenship, Secularism & Federalism are dropped from Class 11 Pol Sc. syllabus. Does this explain something? Yes, it explains that @BJP4India doesn’t believe in these principles & validates its past behaviour.#StopSaffronisationOfEducation,” Siddaramaiah tweeted.

In yet another tweet he said, “I strongly condemn the decision of @HRDMinistry to drop Chapters on Citizenship, Secularism & Federalism. This will deprive a generation of students from understanding the important pillars of Indian democracy. #StopSaffronisationOfEducation.”

The opposition parties have alleged that chapters on India’s democracy and plurality are being “dropped” to propagate a particular ideology.
